Diving in Hong Kong

Diving conditions are variable as Hong Kong has a fluctuating weather system, but when the weather is good, diving visibility can be expected to be 15-20m, and during the summer season April-Nov the water temperature is around 30 degrees.

Hong Kong is home to 83 different species of hard coral (more than the Caribbean) and the government set up protected marine reserves to protect the coral and marine life in Hong Kong. These areas are bustling with life and the coral itself is in very good condition, we conduct regular coral checks to ensure these areas are helping to grow and maintain the eco system. We also work with local schools and communities to build artificial reefs and we promote beach clean-up events regularly.

Fun diving with us

As well as being a 5 star PADI IDC training center, we offer excursion trips in Hong Kong for recreational and technical divers.

We have a total of three diving boats which are fully equipped, maintained regularly and have a large operational range. This means we are able to get to the far reaching dive sites with the best that Hong Kong has to offer.

We can dive any day of the week and have regular scheduled dives every Sunday. In addition we run a night dive every two weeks.

Night Dive

Diving at night in Hong Kong actually is one of our best kept secrets here. As the sun goes down and boat traffic died down. The Sai Kung UW area becomes a haven for nocturnal sea creatures. Some of the best macro diving can be experienced here! Many unusual species of crustaceans, invertebrates, and fishes can be easily spotted like leaf fishes, frog fishes, octopuses, shells, numerous species of crabs and shrimps.

Our usual itinerary starts at the pier around 4pm, we will first do a sunset dive and then with the night dive follows a light refreshment after dark, and should return to pier approx. 9pm. We can also provide torches for rental if needed.

The Cost

The cost for a day on the boat is HK $ 550 and this includes; Two tanks/two dives, Lead Weight, A day on the boat and Lunch with a soft drink (water is free).

If you required gear rental we charge a flat rate of $250 for; Regulator, BCD, Fins, Mask, Snorkel and Wetsuit. Drop us an email at enquiry@mandarin-divers.com to get onboard one of our boats.
