Pak Sha Wan


We make all our dive trips from Pak Sha Wan public pier. Our boats leave at 9 am sharp unless specified otherwise. So please try to be there 15-20 minutes early so as not to cause any delay. The boats are fitted with; diver benches for gear, lead weight, rental equipment, lounge deck, toilets, water, tea, coffee and biscuits. The boat runs most weekends, and can be chartered privately upon request.

Sharp Island

Sharp Island


Sharp Island is one of the few areas in Hong Kong that has an active reef check and conservation project that is maintained and enforced by local dive schools. There are several no anchor buoys that ensure boats stay well away from the fantastic hard coral site. The bulk of the coral is located in the shallows close to the shore in about 2-4m of water. However the site continues down to 12m where the larger fish can be seen.

This site is where we conduct our night dives as the best marine life comes out in the dark. Expect to see some of the following; Seahorse, Squid, Octopus, Lionfish, Cuttlefish, Cardinal, Chromis, Demoiselle, eels, Damsel, Blue Fin Gurnard, Fingered Dragonet, Frogfish, Seahare and Nudibranch.

Shelter Island

Shelter Island


This is our main training ground and pleasure dive site, situated on top of a juvenile reef its perfect to advance your skills or just enjoy the sights. The maximum depth is around 8 meters. The reef itself has loads of coral for young fish and crustaceans to hide among.

Everything from clown fish to blue crabs, even some octopus. In good conditions the site is ideal for macro photographers who want up close and personal shots of the most stunning marine life.

Cascade Bay

Cascade Bay is great inlet site, with a fantastic beach. Each side has a bed of rocks teaming with marine life. This area is one we at mandarin dive a lot, and as such we like to keep our dive sites in good condition. We regularly organize project AWARE events to do underwater and beach cleanups, these events are so successful and really help to clean up all the plastic, glass and metal that gets thrown into the ocean.

The site itself is quite large and ranges in depth from 4-9m, there is a huge colony of anemone along the western side of the site, among which there many clown fish and other small creatures like Octopus, Crabs and Scorpion fish. Along the eastern side among the rock eels and shrimp can be found, in addition to big schools of fish that patrol up and down.

Lobster Bay

Lobster Bay is a novice dive site with a cobbled beach, it used to have a concrete access ramp, but was blown up by the government when it was learnt smugglers were using it to transport goods to china. There are several car wrecks and a vast array of marine life.

Expect to see some of the following; Seahorse, Squid, Octopus, Lionfish, Cuttlefish, Cardinal, Chromis, Demoiselle, Damsel, Blue Fin Gurnard, Fingered Dragonet, Frogfish, Seahare and Nudibranch.

Pak Pai


Pak Pai ticks all the boxes as a dive site. It shallow, which is perfect for training and has an abundance of soft and hard coral that attracts a wide range of marine life. The site depth ranges from 4-9m.

Expect to see; Crabs, Shrimp, Octopus, Seahorse, Squid, Lionfish, Cuttlefish, Cardinal, Chromis, Demoiselle, Damsel, Blue Fin Gurnard, Fingered Dragonet, Frogfish, Seahare and Nudibranch.

Trio Islands

Trio Islands


Trio islands are a small cluster that is one of our deeper dive sites. Ranging in depth from 5-20m, this is for the more advanced divers. The reef starts at 5m with lots of fish and smaller marine life, the site then profiles down to 20m with lots of anemone amongst the rock and sand.

Expect to see Octopus, Seahorse, Squid, Lionfish, Cuttlefish, Cardinal, Chromis, Demoiselle, Damsel, Blue Fin Gurnard, Fingered Dragonet, Frogfish, Seahare and Nudibranch.

Ninepins

Ninepins


Nine Pins is geologically famous for its unique rock formation that is only found here and the Giant ’s Causeway in Ireland. Not only is this a fantastic spectacle to see first-hand above water, it’s also one of our best dive sites. The site begins with small reefs scattered around the place, then profiles down the sand to 15-20 meters where soft coral carpets the sea bed. This colorful site really shows that Hong Kong has a lot to offer in the way of diving, and is defiantly not to be missed.

Expect to see Scorpion fish, snappers, crabs, octopus, Seahorse, Squid, Lionfish, Cuttlefish, Cardinal, Chromis, Demoiselle, Damsel, Blue Fin Gurnard, Fingered Dragonet, Frogfish, Seahare and Nudibranch.

Bluff Island

Bluff Island


Bluff Island is another marine conservation area with no anchor zones put in place to protect the reef. We conduct reef checks to monitor the progress of the reef in conjunction with project AWARE and other local dive school in Hong Kong. The site itself ranges between 3-8m in depth and just outside the no anchor zone several car wrecks can be found.

This site has fantastic coral and makes a superb habitat for some of the following: Crabs, Shrimp, Octopus, Seahorse, Squid, Lionfish, Cuttlefish, Cardinal, Chromis, Demoiselle, Damsel, Blue Fin Gurnard, Fingered Dragonet, Frogfish, Seahare and Nudibranch.

Basalt Island

Basalt Island


Basalt Island is the far east part of Hong Kong and is exposed to the open sea. This site requires the right weather to access, and is also one of the deeper sites we go to. It ranges from 6-20m in depth, with a mostly sandy bottom and small unique rock formations.

Expect to see some of the following: Crabs, Shrimp, Octopus,Seahorse, Squid, Lionfish, Cuttlefish, Cardinal, Chromis, Demoiselle, Damsel, Blue Fin Gurnard, Fingered Dragonet, Frogfish, Seahare and Nudibranch.

Town Island

Town Island


Town Island is a very sheltered site with loads of rocks and coral. The site depth ranges from 5-9m and is an ideal exploration for macro photographers.

Lots of small marine life including Crabs, Shrimp, Octopus, Seahorse, Squid, Lionfish, Cuttlefish, Cardinal, Chromis, Demoiselle, Damsel, Blue Fin Gurnard, Fingered Dragonet, Frogfish, Seahare and Nudibranch.

Pak Lap Tsai

Pak Lap Tsai is a very remote location with lots of hard and soft coral. The site ranges from 6-9m in depth and has a fantastic spread of coral that houses some unique fish.

The types of fish you can expect to see are; Butterfly fish, Ghost Pipe fish, Crabs, Shrimp, Octopus, Seahorse, Squid, Lionfish, Cuttlefish, Cardinal, Chromis, Demoiselle, Damsel, Blue Fin Gurnard, Fingered Dragonet, Frogfish, Seahare and Nudibranch.

East Dam

East Dam


The east dam was built in the 70’s to elevate Hong Kong’s fresh water supply problem. Underwater next to the main dam section there are hundreds of concrete breakers to protect the dam, these breakers have created a haven for many marine life. The small cracks and crevasses are the perfect hiding holes for a vast array of marine life and coral. The site is actually a sandy bottom area, the only rocks are the breakers that have been put in place .

The depth ranges from 6-18m and as it’s in an isolated area also expect better visibility. The thing you’re likely to see include; Lobsters, Crabs, Shrimp, Octopus, Seahorse, Squid, Lionfish, Cuttlefish, Cardinal, Chromis, Demoiselle, Damsel, Blue Fin Gurnard, Fingered Dragonet, Frogfish, Seahare and Nudibranch.

Long Ke Wan

Long Ke Wan


Long Ke Wan is a very isolate and pristine dive site. The depth ranges from 3-8m. The main distinguishing feature about this site is it’s beach. Because of the isolation there is very little impact from rubbish and pollution. The good visibility and clean area makes this a great dive site.

Expect to see baby rays, lobsters, crabs and lots of schools of fish.

Tai Long Wan

Tai Long Wan is the furthest dive area we go to. It is actually split up into many different smaller dive sites. There are artificially reefs, wrecks and loads of marine life. The sites range from 7-20m and there are some small caves to explore.

Expect to see some of the following; Big Rays, Lobsters, Crabs, Shrimp, Octopus, Seahorse, Squid, Lionfish, Cuttlefish, Cardinal, Chromis, Demoiselle, Damsel, Blue Fin Gurnard, Fingered Dragonet, Frogfish, Seahare and Nudibranch.
